Tournaments

has put together a line up of tournaments sure to please. If you have questions or suggestions, please contact Barry directly.

A word about the card playing tournaments: most of them welcome less experienced players but, as a courtesy to others, please learn the basics of the games before tournament time. How do you do that? Ask around! There are MANY people willing to teach Wizard, DDCH and even Pinochle (plus a few games you have probably never heard of). Pick up games abound and they are a great way to meet people. The exception to this is Euchre, where experience really is mandatory for the tournament (Euchre is a rotating-partner game).

Tournaments Schedule

Barry Austern will run a True Greed© tournament, also known as a dicey game of chance. In the hometown land of inventor Queen Mary Lee, of course! Saturday at 10 am.

Tiffany Everett has decided to host an adult-only X-Rated Balderdash game. Bring your dirty mind and stretch the limits of double entendre here ;-) Saturday at 11 pm.

De Freshwater will host 2 tournaments - Quiz Bowl, a challenging team game of trivia, and Encore, the song-lovers game. Quiz Bowl is Saturday at 11 am; Encore is at Friday at 6:30 pm.

Marcia Mariacher, the same person who introduced all of us to Wizard, will be hosting the tournament this year. Saturday at 2 pm.

John Massura invented Duchre, a version of duplicate euchre played only in Mensa. Be sure to sign up with a partner ahead of time. Saturday at 4 pm.

Marty Meighen will push your silly button with a Wonderland game of Mad Libs. Saturday at 1 pm.

Dave Plottel will run the Hearts tournament - that is DDCH, of course. Double Deck Hearts, Mensa-style! Experience not required. Friday at 11 pm with the finals on Saturday at 3 pm.

Katie Weihl hosts the card game of Cucumus, another invention of Mary Lee Kemper. Just show up, she will teach you how to play! Saturday at 7 pm.

Beth Weiss, Euchre player extraordinaire, will host our Euchre tournament. Experienced players only, please. Friday at 8:30 pm.
