Tournaments

Lee Berkovits has put together a great line up of tournaments, which you can find below. You can also click here for a pdf version of the RG schedule grid (most recent update on 12-3-09). Note: changes to the schedule may occur. Please check the date on your copy to be sure it is the latest one.

Join us for Game-a-lot, your chance to win a free registration to the 2010 CAM RG! Points are awarded for participating in (and more points for winning) the tournaments listed below. You can find Game-a-lot score cards in Registration or ask the tournaments hosts. Of course we will award prizes to the winners of all tournaments on Sunday at 11 am.

A word about the card tournaments: most of them welcome less experienced players but, as a courtesy to others, please learn the basics of the games before tournament time. How do you do that? Follow the links below or simply ask around! There are MANY people willing to teach Wizard, DDCH and even Pinochle (plus a few games you have probably never heard of). Pick up games abound at the RG and they are a great way to meet people. The exception to this is Euchre, where experience really is mandatory for the tournament (Euchre is a rotating-partner game).

Tournament Lineup

Lee Berkovits (our Tournament Chair) will host the Qwirkle tournament, where tiles of different shapes and colors converge to thwart your building strategy.
Friday at 6 pm.

Lee will also host a poker tournament. The game is No Limit Hold 'em with no entry fee, because, well - it's free! There will be a dinner break at 7.
Saturday at 6 pm
.

Tiffany Everett has decided to once again host an adult-only X-Rated Balderdash game. Bring your dirty mind and stretch the limits of double entendre as you make up wacky definitions for obscure words.
Saturday at 10 pm.

Marcia Mariacher, the same person who introduced all of us to the bidding card game Wizard, will be hosting the tournament this year. Try to correctly bid your hand as the tricks increase each round and you watch out for the Wizards and Jesters.
Saturday at 4 pm.

John Massura invented Duchre, a version of duplicate euchre played only in Mensa. Be sure to sign up with a partner ahead of time. Because this is a set partner game experience is not required, although you may wish to tell your partner!
Saturday at 1 pm.

Dave Plottel will run the Hearts tournament - DDCH, of course - Double Deck Hearts, Mensa-style! That's double deck cancellation go-fish hearts, guts rules, for the uninitiated. Experience is not required.
Friday at 10:30 pm with the finals on Saturday at 8 pm.

In an effort to add a bit more foolishness to the tournament lineup, Misty Richmond will host a Monty Python Fluxx tournament. Bring your silly walk and your foreign accent! No experience necessary, although understanding the references will add to your enjoyment.
Saturday at midnight.

Beth Weiss, Euchre player extraordinaire, will host our Euchre tournament. This mid-west card game is popular in Ohio! Bowers and bids, setting and knocking to pass - experienced euchre players only, please.
Friday at 8:30 pm.

Beth Weiss and Stan Ward will join forces to run the True Greed© tournament, also known as a dicey game of chance. In the hometown land of inventor Queen Mary Lee, of course! No experience required.
Saturday at 11 am.
